| #5 | What is a Traditional Worship Service? |
|
This is a service with a
more customized liturgical approach, and with hymns accompanied by
organ and piano. The Chancel Choir provides anthems and assists
in congregational singing. Other types of music often include string
and brass accompaniment, solos, quartets, and children’s choir numbers. We follow the church seasons with appropriate calls to worship and prayers of confession and creeds. The sermon may follow the lectionary, but is often a series of sermons around a common theme. Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month and is open to all worshippers, including children and visitors. The choir and ministers wear robes (except during the Summer). The congregation for these services is more inclined to be a little less casual (except in the summer), and yet casual and "business-casual" is not uncommon. |
